So, how long does a new boiler installation take?
There is no straightforward answer to this because the time required to install a boiler depends on what fuel you use, whether you are moving your boiler to a different location, the type of boiler you are changing it to, and from there is any complexity involved.

Straight Boiler Swap: 4-6 Hours
This is the simplest and fastest type of installation as you are simply replacing your existing boiler with the same one but newer. Your old boiler gets removed, and the new one gets placed in the same position, requiring no additional work as the gas lines and water are all in place.
Relocating Boiler: 1-2 Days
If you would like to install a new boiler in a new location, it can take more than a day. This is because new pipes and wires will need to be installed, and structural work may be necessary. Your old boiler must also be completely removed and safely disconnected from its existing space.
Changing the type of boiler: 2-3 Days
Depending on the type of boiler you need, they all need distinct plumbing and electrical systems, so if you are completely changing your boiler, it is almost like getting a new boiler installation for the first time.
The most significant difference will be upgrading from a combi to a heat-only or system boiler.
System boilers require an additional cylinder and a heat-only boiler requires a cold water tank and an expansion tank. A lot of pipework is involved in installing these types of boilers, which contributes to the length of time it takes to install them.
